Ka’Deem Carey rushed for 157 yards, but three times the star running back was stopped on fourth-and-short situations, twice in the first half. Trailing 30-7 at halftime, the Wildcats made a brief third-quarter charge, pulling to within 30-14 on an 8-yard Carey touchdown run.

Things got more interestin­g when Arizona forced ASU to punt, but after three first downs, Randall intercepte­d Denker to reverse momentum. Two possession­s later, Kelly sealed the outcome, hitting Strong for a 61-yard scoring strike and a 44-21 lead.

Overall, ASU — opening in a 4-2-5 scheme for the first time this season — intercepte­d Denker three times. The quarterbac­k finished 15 of 30 for 175 yards. He also rushed for 87 yards.
