1951 - 2014. Gary Browne of Calgary, Alberta, Canada unexpectedly passed away at the age of 62 on February 16, 2014 in his winter home in Scottsdale. Gary was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 30, 1951 to the late Islay and Robert Browne. He graduated from William Aberhart High School and received a Bachelor of Economics Degree from the University of Calgary. Gary met his loving wife, Dawn Hall, and they celebrated 32 years of marriage together, living mostly in Calgary. Gary spent his 30+ year career in the oil patch, starting as a Landman with Mobil Oil and retired in 2011 from his position as Vice-President Land with Nuloch Resources. Gary loved life and had a deep passion for golf having four aces in his bag. He was a member of both The Glencoe Club and The Glencoe Golf & Country Club in Calgary, and The Country Club at DC Ranch in Scottsdale. He enjoyed entertaining and became a very proficient cook and self-taught sommelier. Gary loved to travel and all the planning that went along with it. He was fortunate to have travelled a lot of the world, via business and pleasure, and had just returned from one of his dream vacations to Singapore, Indonesia and Australia with his wife, sister, and brother-in-law. He lived life large and to the fullest. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Dawn; his brothers and sisters (and their spouses), David (Colleen) Browne, Margaret (Gordon) Burrell, Nancy (Randy) Matthews, Daniel (Colleen) Browne; sister-in-law Bonnie Hall (Jaye McManes) and brother-in law Dennis Hall. He was a loving and caring uncle to Steven (Jennifer) Burrell, Ryan and Ian Matthews, Nathaniel Browne, Islay Burrell, Sara (Adam Fellows) and Mark Staples. Gary will be terribly missed by his family and many friends. We have all lost a special dear man, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and condolences at this very sad time. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date in Calgary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Liver Foundation or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or their equivalents in the U.S.
