93, of Peoria, Arizona passed away on February 19, 2014, following a stroke the morning of her 93rd birthday. Those 93 years were happy and active right up until the very last evening when she was thrilled with her Valentine’s Day flowers and her upcoming birthday party the next day. Born on February 15, 1921 to William and Dora Land, in Carbondale, KS, she enjoyed her childhood years growing up on the farm in Overbrook, KS with her brother, Jim Land, now deceased; her sister, Opal Coffman, now deceased, and her surviving sister, Edna Bean, Fullerton, CA. She is also survived by her husband of 51 years, Melvin Jenkins and her daughter, Judy PerrinCron­e and husband David Crone of Phoenix. A recent highlight of her life was her 90th birthday when her sister Edna and all eight of her nieces and nephews along with their spouses traveled to Arizona to celebrate her birthday. For the past 18 years it has been a joy for her to be welcomed into the Crone family which includes 8 great-grandchild­ren and 4 great-great grandchild­ren. Dolores spent her early adult years in Topeka, KS where she met Melvin. His job took them to various parts of the country to live-Northern California, Southern California, Ohio, and New Mexico. They eventually retired in Peoria, AZ and have resided at the Freedom Plaza Retirement Community for the past six years. A memorial service will be held on Sat. March 1, at 11:00 a.m. at The Congregati­onal Church of Sun City, 18401 N. 99th Ave, Sun City, AZ 85373.
