age 78, passed away March 18th, 2014. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmothe­r, sister, and great friend. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Scott, daughter Julie Ovens Jewell, son Christophe­r Ovens (wife Jeanette), granddaugh­ter Jessica, grandsons Luke and JP, a sister Sally Bergman, brother, Tom Person, and her beloved dog "Bear", who was always at her side. Barbara was born in Seattle, WA and attended the University of Washington where she earned a bachelors degree in Business Administra­tion in 1959. She moved to Phoenix, AZ and attended the University of Arizona where she earned a masters degree in Business with a minor in Marketing. Barbara later went on to earn a masters degree in Music focusing on the piano. Barbara loved to entertain and often volunteere­d to play the piano at the Mayo Clinic and senior homes. Barbara’s other passion was quilting and crafts. She loved creating cards, photo albums, tole painting, and making jewelry. She loved sharing her knowledge and always enjoyed passing it on to others. Always a person to accept a challenge, she enjoyed life and lived it to it’s fullest. Barbara will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a very special person. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Messinger Mortuary 7601 E. Indian School Rd, Scottsdale AZ 85251. Visitation is at 9:00 am with the service at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Paradise Memorial Gardens 9300 E Shea Blvd. Scottsdale AZ. In lieu of flowers, Barbara wishes that contributi­ons be made to the Mayo Clinic.
