SURPRISE — Albert Pujols and Mike Trout homered to back Jered Weaver and help Los Angeles beat Kansas Cityon Thursday. Pujols hit his first home run of spring training in the first inning against Bruce Chen, a day after doubling twice. “His swings have been better,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. “The two swings he had yesterday against the White Sox, where he drove the ball to rightcenter, is a great indication. The first one today he killed to center. He just missed another one, too.” Pujols missed the final 62 games last season with a left foot injury. Trout hit a two-run drive in the sixth, giving him home runs in back-to-back games and four overall. Trout also doubled and is hitting .400 with 14 RBIs. Weaver allowed two runs and three hits in 51⁄ innings with five strikeouts and no walks. Jason Donald homered off him. Chen gave up three runs and six hits in 51⁄ innings. Brewers 4, Rockies 3 SALT RIVER FIELDS — Juan Nicasio retired his first seven batters before control problems hit, Boone Logan struggled in his Colorado debut and Milwaukee beat the Rockies. Nicasio walked two in the fourth and they scored on Caleb Gindl’s double. He allowed consecutive doubles in the sixth and exited with two outs. When Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman was hit in the face by a line drive Wednesday night, it stirred memories of Nicasio’s frightening injuries from a similar incident three years ago. Nicasio suffered a fractured skull, broken neck and bleeding on the brain when he was hit by a liner as a rookie in August 2011. The right-hander returned a year later, only to be slowed by a knee injury that required surgery. Finally healthy this spring, Nicasio allowed three runs, three hits and three walks while working on his splitter. Logan gave up three hits and walked in a run while getting two outs in the seventh. The lefty reliever had been recovering from elbow surgery since signing a $16.5 million, three-year deal.
