‘About Last Night’ eee

(Barbara VanDenburgh) This slick romantic-comedy update on the gulf between men and women and the complex sexual politics of dating treads ground familiar to any casual moviegoer. But modern touches and an engaging cast (Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Regina Hall) make the recycled material feel fresh enough for a one-night stand at the multiplex. (R — 100 minutes) D, P, S. Disney’s latest animated musical is a terrific return to form. Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee update and change Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale to good effect. Kristen Bell is particularly good as a princess in search of her sister (Idina Menzel), who ran away after accidentally causing harm to the kingdom. (PG — 108 minutes) Peter Berg’s film, about a real-life Navy SEAL mission that went wrong, avoids jingoism by focusing on the intensity of the performances, especially those of Mark Wahlberg and Ben Foster, though everyone in it is good. (R — 121 minutes) P, V. How does one criticize a movie about the life of Jesus? Christopher Spencer’s film, produced by “Survivor” creator Mark Burnett and his wife, actress Roma Downey, is a cut-down of the 10-hour History Channel series, and too often it plays like a TV movie. The noblest of Funded largely by Kickstarter contributions from fans, Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell bring the canceled TV series about a teen detective (now grown up) to the big screen. Fans will love it, but there's enough here for everyone. (PG-13 — 107 minutes) D, P, S, V.
