Ginn, June Eilleen

June Eilleen (Heard) Ginn went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2014. June was born on March 9, 1928 to Anna Belle (Johnson) Heard and Deck Heard, in the small west Texas town of Spade. They lived on the family farm with her brothers Richard Dennis and Coye Gwynn Heard. She met Rayford Ginn, the love of her life, and husband of 66 years on Veteran’s Day, 1947. They were married six weeks later on Christmas Eve, at the Heard family home in Spade. Rayford and June moved to Yuma, Arizona with their two sons, Gary and Mark in 1959. A daughter Lori was born in Yuma. The family moved to Tempe, Arizona, in 1962. June was devoted to her family and church. A result of her country and Christian upbringing, there was always "room for one more" at the dinner table. Many a holiday dinner included family, extended family, and those just needing a family. Although plagued with health issues in recent years, June continued to make holidays special. June spent many hours volunteering as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher and choir member at Corona Baptist Church, in Chandler, Arizona, of which she and Rayford were charter members; and previous to that at Church on Mill (formerly First Southern Baptist Church) in Tempe. June is survived by her husband Rayford, two sons, Gary (Lindy), Mark (Deb) and daughter Lori Young (Kirk), 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her mother Anna Belle, father Deck and brother Coye. Funeral Services will be held, Friday, August 1, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Valley of the Sun Funeral Home, located at 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, AZ. 85248 with a reception to follow burial at Corona Baptist Church, located at 4450 W Ray Rd, Chandler, AZ 85226. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of the Valley or the Alzheimer’s Association.
