Super Bowl will be even bigger and better if Cards make it in

Debbie Johnson, president and CEO, Arizona Lodging & Tourism Association:

The Arizona Cardinals are potentially Super Bowl bound with the very successful start of their season, which would provide our state even more reason to celebrate as we host Super Bowl XLIX.

The University of Phoenix Stadium and our entire state will be filled with visitors from around the world who would be able to watch our hometown team compete in the biggest sporting event of the year. Yes, visitors will still come and, in addition to the unique and fun activities already surrounding the event, they will be able to experience the electricity of our devoted fan base.

This would be the first time ever that a hometown team has played in the Super Bowl in their own stadium. The positive media attention on Arizona will only increase, because not only are we providing a world-class experience and showcasing our excellent weather and destination — we would also be making history.

In addition to the excitement added for the visitors and the media, having the Cardinals in the Super Bowl would be an unprecedented experience for our state and our residents. And if all that wasn’t enough, we will host our first-ever Pro Bowl in Arizona the weekend prior to the Super Bowl.

Hosting these two epic events and having our home team compete in the Super Bowl, and hopefully win, would be something to talk about for generations. Make no mistake, if the Cardinals make it to the Arizona Super Bowl, we all win. Go Cards!
