Boards

Craig Jacob, senior director of operations and interim executive director of Carrington College Phoenix campuses, has been appointed to the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecond­ary Education.

The Arizona Army National Guard Historical Society and the Arizona Military Museum elected new board of directors and officers. The officers are:

Joseph Abodeely, president; Domingo Gonzales, vice president; Klaus Forest, treasurer and Anna Kroger, secretary. Board members include: Harry Hensell, Mary Hensell, Mike Snozek, Trudie Cooke and Rod Huber.

The Arizona Healthcare Executives, a chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, announced its 2015 board of directors. They are: Kimberly Navidi, president; Dan Silver, immediate past president; Greg Wojtal, treasurer; Daffodil Baez, secretary; George Sterling, vice president programs; Joanne Schlosser, vice president membership services; Jigar Shah, vice president sponsorshi­p; Tomas Leon, board member, diversity and inclusion; and Jason Barlow, CEO Liaison.

Banner Health added three new members to its board of directors: Anne Mariucci, retired president of Del Webb Corp.; Steve Rizley, owner of the 99 Ranch in southeaste­rn Arizona and retired senior vice president and general manager of Cox Communicat­ions’ Southwest region; and Steven W. Lynn, chief strategy officer for Strongpoin­t Marketing LLC.

Education

Anthony Spano has been appointed president of the Phoenix campus of DeVry University, which includes Phoenix, Glendale and Mesa locations.

Finance

Ryan Backlund joined Wells Fargo Private Bank in Scottsdale as regional managing director for Arizona. Backlund, the former regional director for Wells Fargo Private Bank in Seattle, will oversee wealth management functions for the area through Wells Fargo Bank, NA, and brokerage services through Wells Fargo Advisors LLC.

Law

Sarah Fern joined Shorall McGoldrick Brinkmann in Phoenix as an associate. She will practice in constructi­on litigation and personal injury litigation.

Abbie Shindler joined Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner in Scottsdale as a partner. She is an experience­d estate planning and corporate law attorney.

Tom Moring joined Jaburg Wilk in Phoenix as a partner focusing on real estate and commercial disputes.

Stacey Johnson and Paul Omerza joined the estate planning and probate practice at Fennemore Craig in Phoenix. Johnson, who joined as of counsel, focuses on assisting persons responsibl­e for managing another’s personal or fi--

nancial matters. Omerza joined as a practice group attorney focusing on estate planning, probate and elder law.

Snell & Wilmer in Phoenix has been named a 2015 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award finalist by Employer Support of the Guard and

Reserve, a Department of Defense office. The award is the DoD’s highest recognitio­n given to employers for exceptiona­l support of National Guard and Reserve employees. Up to 15 Freedom Award recipients will be honored at the 20th annual Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award ceremony in Washington, D.C., in late summer.

Mark Wesbrooks of Wesbrooks Law Firm in Peoria received a15-year pin as a certified Creditors Rights Law Specialist, a designatio­n that has been achieved by only three attorneys in the state.

Real estate

Andrew Snedeker joined DTZ in Phoenix as vice president in the project and developmen­t services division. He will be responsibl­e for managing all phases of the developmen­t process, including ground-up projects, redevelopm­ents and tenant improvemen­ts.

Miscellane­ous

Gila River Telecommun­ications in Chandler has been honored as the American Indian Business of the Year by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Developmen­t. The award is given annually to a tribally owned business for its dedication to improving the economy and the lives of the individual­s living within its community.

Jennifer Mellor has been promoted to vice president of economic developmen­t at the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce. Greg Tilque joined the chamber as senior economic developmen­t specialist, and Taylor Gillings joined as economic developmen­t specialist.
