Places to dine, stay in Prescott during car show

- THE REPUBLIC AZCENTRAL.COM i

Gearheads will want to vroom up to Prescott for the Watson lake Antique Car Show. While you’re there, here are suggestions for a delicious meal and a good night’s sleep.

Eat

Don’t be fooled because this downtown pizza joint bears a non-paisan name. Owner Bill Tracy is a sauce-making, doughkneading artist. His combo pies are gastronomical masterpieces, and you can buy them by the slice. Tracy is a student of pizza, having traveled to Italy as well as crossed the United States to study various approaches to the art of piemaking. That open-minded attitude shows. He serves a thin, crispy pizza with a tasty blend of sauce, cheese and fresh toppings, and he’s not afraid to experiment.

Stay

The first thing you notice about Gurley Street Lodge is the comfy, Western-style living room with leather couches and deer and javelina heads mounted on the wall. Breakfast is served in the kitchen, which seats up to 12 peo- ple, and includes hearty favorites such as sausage, pancakes, French toast and the inn’s signature yogurt-fruit cup. There are four rooms, two downstairs and two upstairs. The most popular is the Lodge Room, a cabinlike room with a fireplace and private flagstone patio. Every room has a mini fridge, microwave and glassware. Travelers also can rent the Vacation Bungalow, part of a du- plex near the lodge. It has a full kitchen. The inn is less than a mile from downtown.
