If legislators had to mimic Oscar acceptance speech
Some watching tonight’s Academy Awards show will wish the Oscar winners stay off politics and stick to the pro-forma thank-yous of collaborators, agents and muses. Wouldn’t it be fab if our lawmakers had to adhere to Hollywood’s script? Before each hearing and vote, the bill’s sponsor gets up and acknowledges the lobbyists and interest groups that shaped the legislation, crafted its language? The lawmaker could take as long as is needed. We wouldn’t even cue the music.
