Different goalie. Same result. The Coyotes’ offensive struggles against the Blues continued Wednesday as St. Louis backup Carter Hutton posted 22 saves in a 3-1 win at Gila River Arena after No. 1 Jake Allen stymied Arizona 4-1 on Monday when this homeand-home series began.

Overall, the Blues finished the three-game series having surrendered only two goals to the Coyotes, as they blanked Arizona 3-0 on March 18.

St. Louis tested backup Louis Domingue often, and the pressure paid off. The Blues scored their first 9:16 into the first period when center Patrik Berglund handcuffed Domingue with a rising shot – this after winger Scottie Upshall had a pair of breakaway looks on Domingue early that the netminder fought off.

In the second, the Blues tacked on another when winger Vladimir Tarasenko wired a rebound off a Jay Bouwmeester shot by Domingue at 2:25. St. Louis reached the 30-shot plateau before the period ended. Domingue had 39 saves.

Arizona erased Hutton’s shutout bid in the third on the power play on a shot from defenseman Alex Goligoski. Rookie Clayton Keller earned his first NHL point with a secondary assist on the play. The Coyotes went 1-for-3. St. Louis also was 1-for-3 with the man advantage as winger David Perron added an empty-netter on the power play with 20 seconds to go. This loss dropped the Coyotes to 1-6-1 in their last eight games. They’ve also scored a combined four goals over their past four games.
