Time: Approximately 5:49 p.m., 40 minutes after conclusion of first game TV: Channel 5. North Carolina’s road: Beat No. 16-seed Texas Southern 103-64; No. 8 Arkansas 72-65; No. 4 Butler 92-80; No. 2 Kentucky 75-73. Coach: Roy Williams, 14th season (396-115, .775). Projected starters: G Joel Berry II, 6-0, Jr., 14.6 ppg, 3.6 apg; F Justin Jackson, 6-8, Jr., 18.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg; F Theo Pinson, 6-6, Jr., 6.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg; F Isaiah Hicks, 6-9, Sr., 12.1, 5.4 rpg; C Kennedy Meeks, 6-10, Sr., 12.3, 9.3 rpg. Scouting report: “Some of their best offense is offensive rebounding. They are just an awesome offensive rebounding team, and they’re awesome in transition. They get the ball inbounds quick and they fly up the floor. Even after you score, they can attack you. Justin Jackson has great length and size and he can really shoot. What makes him difficult is he can shoot over people. You can’t put a smaller guy on him. Berry is very good. He understands what Coach Williams wants, and he knows how to execute it. He sees the floor well, and he’s a big shot maker. They’ve got multiple bigs and there’s no drop off when they bring guys in. Do they have some holes? Oregon’s road: Beat No. 14 Iona 93-77; No. 11 Rhode Island 75-72; No. 7 Michigan 69-68; No. 1 Kansas 74-60. Coach: Dana Altman, seventh season (18769, .730). Projected starters: G Payton Pritchard, 6-2, Fr., 7.4 ppg, 3.7 apg; G Dylan Ennis, 6-2, Sr., 10.7 ppg, 3.1 apg; G Tyler Dorsey, 6-4, Soph., 14.5 ppg; F Dillon Brooks, 6-7, Jr., 16.3 ppg; F Jordan Bell, 6-9, Jr., 10.9 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.2 bpg. Scouting report: “There’s a type of intimidation or swagger to how they play. They’re active on defense. You can’t turn the ball over and give them open-court opportunities. Brooks deserves a lot of attention just because of what he means to their team. He steps up late in games and he can beat you in a lot of ways. Dorsey really has become the difference maker for them. If he’s playing well and giving them the point production that he has lately, it just makes them more difficult to beat. What Bell did against Kansas was very impressive. Your guards have to make good decisions around the basket because of his shot blocking and your frontcourt guys have to put a body on him.” – Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley.
