After advancing to the second round of the playoffs last season, Dallas will be absent from the postseason this spring. The Stars return home after going 2-3 on a five-game road trip and are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games. Center Tyler Seguin leads the team in points (70). He and captain Jamie Benn pace the group in goals with 25. Dallas is 2-0 against Arizona this season. The team has also won eight straight against the Coyotes at home. worked out and now I know what I gotta do to keep it going.”

Arizona will have to expose one goalie for the upcoming expansion draft, but Domingue hasn’t asked the Coyotes about their plans nor have they filled him in, he said.

“There’s a lot of great goalies that are going to get exposed,” Domingue said. “I don’t know. I haven’t really put any thought into it.”

It’s possible the team’s situation in net remains status quo, but being saddled with a contract for more than a season hasn’t given Domingue a sense of security.

“Contracts mean nothing if you don’t do the job,” he said.

So continually proving himself is always on his radar – to show he belongs as the Coyotes’ backup and to help him achieve his ultimate goal of one day emerging as a starter.

And what Domingue experienced this season – the slide and the surge – is integral to that journey.

“I think I grew a lot as a goalie and in my position, being the backup, I grew a lot in that position,” Domingue said. “My game grew. If I look back right now, I think it grew and I took another step in what I want to become and it’s a steady guy in the league.”

difficult year for me personally,” Ekman-Larsson said in a statement released by the team. “I’d like to thank the Coyotes organization and all of my teammates for their incredible support all season long. I’m sorry that I’ll miss our last three games but family comes first.”

Ekman-Larsson traveled to his native Sweden Monday, the team said, to be with his father, brother and other family members after his mother passed away recently following a long battle with cancer.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Oliver and his family during this very difficult time,” General Manager John Chayka said in a statement. “Oliver has done a remarkable job dealing with this issue all season long and we commend him for the professionalism that he’s demonstrated. It’s important that he travels back to Sweden now to be with his family.”
