INQUIRY OPENED INTO FIRED NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER
Michael Flynn, who was fired as President Trump’s national security adviser, is now under investigation by the Pentagon Inspector General and had failed to inform Defense Department officials about seeking payments from foreign governments, according to the Defense Department and documents released Thursday.
The inspector general is looking into whether Flynn, a retired Army lieutenant general, accepted payments from a foreign government without seeking prior approval as required.
UNITED AIRLINES SETTLES WITH MAN DRAGGED OFF FLIGHT
David Dao, the passenger dragged off a United Airlines flight, has reached an “amicable settlement” with the airline over the incident that sparked a worldwide uproar, his lawyers said Thursday.
The amount of the settlement was not disclosed under the terms of the agreement, but lawyer Thomas Demetrio praised United CEO Oscar Munoz for his handling of the dispute.
United took “full responsibility” for what unfolded on Flight 3411 “without attempt to blame others,” he said. The lawyer said the airline should be applauded for accepting corporate accountability in the matter.
The settlement came the same day United announced a sweeping series of changes for passenger protection, including paying up to $10,000 for travelers who voluntarily give up their seat on an overbooked flight.

uPolice arrested a suspect Thursday in the killing of a Chicago-area judge, who was shot in front of his home. Authorities charged Earl Wilson with firstdegree murder for the April 10 fatal shooting of Cook County Associate Judge Raymond Myles, according to police department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
