The Phoenix Zoo has plenty of ways to cool off and have fun, with three different water play areas for kids to explore, learn and splash. From the sandy Leapin’ Lagoon and its water jets to the stalactite­s and stalagmite­s of the Yakulla Caverns splash pad, there’s no end to the fun. These areas are open March through October.

Details: WEST VALLEY

The 10,000-square-foot splash area includes dump buckets, spray hoops, surface-jet sprays and spray frogs. There’s a dry, shaded area for adults.

Colorful water arches, drop buckets and water cannons are featured at this splash pad. It is open from the third Monday in April through third Monday in October.

This water area has a water tower, spray tubes and plenty of seating for adults. The surroundin­g park also has a playground, a disc golf course, a large fountain and more.
