Here’s your traffic answer — now get out of the way

-

Today’s question: I drive up and down Shea Boulevard every day. Which is the safest lane to be in — inside, middle or outside lane? Does one drive up and down Shea Boulevard or back and forth on it? I suppose it’s a matter of perspective.

I don’t like traffic questions. I don’t like traffic questions because everyone out there knows more about driving than anyone else on the road and ought to just drive like they do or at least have the good grace to get out of the way.

I don’t really like driving as much as I used to. I don’t know why. I just don’t.

As for the lane you choose, the consensus seems to be to go with the middle lane.

Myself, I don’t like the feeling of being boxed in with lunatic drivers on either side of me, but what are you going to do?

The inside — left — lane is the fast lane and no matter what you do some moron is always going to want you to get out of their way.

The outside — right — lane is supposed to be for slower traffic with people turning or exiting or, on surface streets, buses stopping and going.

So, I’d say go with the middle lane and hope for the best.

Since, as I said, you all know more about driving than anyone else so I am sure you have your own opinions on this.

That’s nice. Keep them to yourselves. What is the “jack” in lumberjack? Jack is sort of an all-purpose name, like jack of all trades or jack in the box or, “Get back, jack.”
