Elaine was born on September 11th, 1938, in Sylvester, Georgia, to her parents, Jack and Melvina Sumner. She was delivered by her paternal grandfather, Gordon S. Sumner, M. D., at their home in Worth County, Ga. Elaine graduated in 1956 from Sylvester High School, where she served as class president, enjoyed cheerleading and ballet, was active in the Spanish Club, which ultimately inspired her love of the Spanish culture. After relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, she raised her 4 children in Tempe, Arizona. After raising her children, in 1983, she married the love of her life, Anton “Tony” V. Rimsza. Together, they enjoyed living in Rocky Point, Mexico, with the companionship of their closest friends, and countless adventures in the Sea of Cortez.
