Camping out:

- — Scott Bordow

Coach Bruce Arians said he likes the idea of conducting joint practices with another team during training camp but that it wasn’t feasible this year because the Cardinals have an extra preseason game. “I didn’t want to have a joint practice with five preseason games. It just was going to be too much,” Arians said. Arizona held joint practices in San Diego last season with the Chargers, and Arians said he has had conversations with Raiders coach Jack Del Rio about getting their two teams together. One issue: The preseason schedule isn’t released until May, giving teams little time to try to schedule joint workouts. … Arians came away impressed by Monday’s workout in full pads, calling it a “really good practice. Because it was a game-plan practice, you expect those to go smoothly, and it did.”

DT Robert Nkemdiche limped off the field midway through Tuesday’s practice. He appeared to have a left leg injury. An injury update was not immediately available . ... Guard Mike Iupati (triceps) missed Tuesday’s practice, but Arians expects him to play in Saturday’s preseason game against Atlanta ... Neither quarterback Carson Palmer nor kick returner Kerwynn Williams practiced Tuesday. This would be a typical regular-season Wednesday for Palmer, so he might have been given the day off. Quote: “He won’t. When they do throw that one bad ball your way, catch it.” – Bruce Arians, on how seldom-targeted cornerback Patrick Peterson can raise his interception total. Up next: The Cardinals will practice Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at University of Phoenix Stadium. It’s the last practice open to the public.
