You people need to handle some things on your own

-

Today’s question: Why is it that when my wife and I go out for dinner and we order an entrée that, according to the server, comes with a side dish, one of us will pay extra for our choice — even though we are choosing from the supplied list? It seems to me that if the meal includes a side, the side should not add to the price of entrée — especially when you are ordering a not-inexpensive meal.

And it does not state in the menu that ordering A over B will be more money.

There is a problem here. The problem is … People, people, people … I try to answer most of your questions. I like doing it. I learn a lot.

I always marvel at the scope of new things you find to wonder about.

It makes me feel lucky to have the job I have.

But there are some things you are just going to have to figure out for yourselves.

Why didn’t you ask your server to explain this pricing thing to you? Or the manager?

As the customer you have every right to do so without being rude.

Instead, you sat there and grumbled and frowned at your server on the way out and sort of let it spoil your nice evening and finally your wife said, “If it bothers you so much why don’t you ask that Gary guy at the paper about it” and after a while you figured out she meant me and decided, by golly, that’s just what you’d do.

Well, the fact is I’m sorry, but you should have handled this one yourself.
