Mary Ankeney Johns was 98 of Sun Lakes, Arizona passed away on September 6, 2017. Mary was born in Chicago Illinois on June 24, 1919 and lived a wonderful life. Mary attended High School in Chicago and began her long and successful career as an executive secretary. She and her son Craig Ankeney lived in Chicago with Mary’s mother with a brief few years living in Ferndale & Royal Oak Michigan. Mary met her husband Dale, who she married and then the family moved to Lombard, Illinois. Mary continued her business career. Mary was most happy with her second husband Dale Ankeney who passed away in 1990, way too early in life. They traveled the world and in 1973 moved to Moon Valley where they were members of Moon Valley CC. enjoying golf. They also were some of the first members at Pinetop CC enjoying the summers in the cool weather. Eventually they moved to Sun Lakes and were members at Cottonwood CC. After Dale passed Mary met Col. Howard Johns at Pinetop CC and they were married and took up residence at Ironwood, in Sun Lakes, where they also enjoyed golf at Ironwood CC. When Howard passed, Mary moved into the Renassance in Sun Lakes, A7_, where she spent her last days. Mary is survived by her son Craig Ankeney, his wife Sandy and her 3 grandchild­ren Jennifer Ankeney Touby (David), Christophe­r Ankeney (Dana) and Melanie Ankeney. Also, her 9 great grandchild­ren: Austin Gemmell, Abbey Gemmell, Carter Warnock, Hayden Warnock, Emily Ankeney. Annabelle Ankeney, Eli Ankeney, Beau & Noah Ankeney and her friend and niece Pat O’Hara. She was in contact or with all her family when she passed. In addition to enjoying traveling the world and playing golf, Mary was active in East Valley Assistance League and her Church choir. She will be missed by her family and friends and now is at peace with her Creator. A private family grave site ceremony will be held in the future.
