Don’t be a goober: Quit worrying about toilet paper

- Valley 101 Clay Thompson Arizona Republic USA TODAY NETWORK

Today’s question:

Toilet paper companies have decided to make their rolls narrower and with more sheets. I assume it is in an attempt to make us consumers believe we’re getting more paper for our money. When can we expect the makers of toilet-paper holders to adjust to the new size and shape?

I’m sorry. I don’t know the answer to that. I am afraid there are some things I cannot help you with.

I am concerned that this bothers you. The world is full of wonders that are there for you to try to understand and be amazed by and delight in. It seems a shame to waste time fussing about your roll of toilet paper being too narrow to fill the holder.

Regrettably, we are also beset by miseries and woes.

Some of us have the wherewithal to deal with those downsides. Many others do not.

If you want to fuss about something fuss about that.

And happily that is something I can help you with.

We are already deep into this year’s Season for Sharing campaign and that means here at Valley 101 the anti-goober elves are standing by to process your anti-goober donations and send you a little something in turn.

Every dime goes directly to a local nonprofit that helps the people among us who need help with loneliness, hunger, grief or the isolation that comes from believing things will never get any better.

You could qualify for a nifty Valley 101 magnifying reader, an even niftier thermal travel mug or be entered in a drawing for a luxury skybox for 12 at an Arizona Diamondbacks game next season.
