Auto-insurer Progressive plans to hire 350 workers by the end of the year at its Phoenix campus, boosting employment at the site to more than 1,000.
Auto-insurer Progressive plans to hire 350 workers by the end of the year at its Phoenix campus, boosting employment at the site to more than 1,000 — and job applicants don’t need to disclose what they earned in previous jobs.
Positions include those in customer service and claims, with some bilingual openings. The Phoenix campus is near 48th Street and Broadway Road, south of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Progressive currently employs more than 700 people at the site.
The move is part of a decision by Progressive to hire 7,500 people nationwide. In addition to Phoenix, the company is hiring more than 1,000 people each in Cleveland and Tampa, plus 700 or more in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Austin. The company is based in Mayfield Village, Ohio.

Progressive recently decided it would no longer ask applicants about their salary history.
“We’ve always based our pay on market research,” said Lori Niederst, chief human resources officer, in a prepared statement. “We hope this change will give candidates who apply for our jobs confidence that they will be paid based on what they bring to Progressive, regardless of whether their previous employers paid them fairly.”
