“I like his leadership. As I
told you from Day 1, he’s
wired a little different, and I
like that.”
Rosen was happy to practice Friday because it was another step confirming the draft process was over. No more visiting teams or working out for them privately.
Rosen and Chad Kanoff, a rookie free agent from Princeton, are two of the four rookies on the roster. When organized team activities beginning Tuesday, they will be joined by veterans Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon.
Veteran quarterbacks don’t always mesh well with rookies. In the past week, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger expressed surprise his team drafted a quarterback, Mason Rudolph. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco reportedly hasn’t responded to messages sent by Lamar Jackson, who was taken in the first round.
Bradford, in contrast, texted Rosen within hours after the draft offering to help in any way he could.
“I think it speaks to him as a person and how he’s willing to embrace the competition and the team aspect,” Rosen said. “And I’m the same way. Regardless of starter-backup, I want the Arizona Cardinals to do the best possible because I want to be in a Super Bowl. If at least for this year, the best way to do that is have Sam starting, then so be it, and I’m going to push him every single day.”
