Taking kids from parents? More blather from the left

- R.L. Diehl, Black Canyon City J. Lowe, Prescott Contact him: Dr. Micki Kloss, Scottsdale Antonio Morales, Glendale

This blather from the left about taking kids away from their parents is, as usual, an emotional appeal with no factual basis.

Anyone who gets arrested and is in jail cannot have their children with them. Why should being arrested for breaking immigration laws be treated any differently than dope-dealing or writing bad checks?

We can’t forfeit all sense of reality just because we feel sorry for these people.

The illegal border-crosser has more rights than a U.S. citizen

Only in American can criminal illegal aliens (not migrants) consciously decide to break our laws by entering the United States illegally, further compound this by bringing their minor children and then complain when they are caught.

Are we a nation of laws all must follow or are we a nation that grants noncitizens more rights than citizens? The answer seems clear. Citizens are not as important as illegal aliens.

My casting ideas for the political version of ‘The Wizard of Oz’

Kudos to Mr. Epstein. I loved his analogy in his Friday letter to the editor, referring to Trump as the Cowardly Lion of the Wizard of Oz.

Trump could play the role as he does have the mane.

Here are some other casting suggestions:

❚ Sheriff Joe Arpaio always reminded me of The Wizard hiding behind the noise and flashing lights, covering his fear and inability.

❚ Former Gov. Jan Brewer should be remembered as the scarecrow searching for a brain.

❚ The Wicked Witch, cruel and sadistic, goes to Kirstjen Nielson, head of Homeland Security.

Where did this woman come from? She has no care or regard for children. It is not a crime to seek help at the border. In fact, it is legal to turn yourself in to request asylum.

An open letter to Mesa Police Department:

As a retired law enforcement officer with 37 years of experience, in my view you cannot possibly justify what was captured on that video of Robert Johnson. So stop trying.

Investigate completely, act swiftly to not only punish appropriately those who acted improperly but send a message to others that this type of egregious conduct will not be tolerated!

Then begin immediately to rebuild the trust and confidence of the community you serve before the entire public turns on you.

You have some serious issues Mesa PD, ie: shooting and killing a drunk unarmed man wearing shorts, crawling on his hands and knees begging for his life; manhandling an 84-year-old woman, etc. etc.

Deal with them!
