This old man is teary-eyed listening to the ‘Queen of Soul’

Here I am, a 79-year-old white operalovin­g man, tears welling in my eyes, listening to favorite Aretha Franklin song, “That Lucky Old Sun.”

If you have never heard this moving song-prayer, download it. This week, her prayer was answered. She did cross that river and was shown paradise.

Thank you for all those years of pleasure. Rest in peace, Queen of Soul.

Americans sick of the unending deluge of anti-Trump news

What you media have done is a concerted foray into thought control, Soviet style.

We want news, not your liberally biased opinions. The American people are sick and tired of being subjected to 24/7 anti-Trump news cycles, practicall­y smothering any other domestic or internatio­nal news.

Last Friday night, no major outlets cut into their pre-programmed shows and talking points to report on a hijacked aircraft over the Seattle region until well after the event.

Media have been played by the “look squirrel” game running from travel ban, Stormy, Manafort, Cohen, Omarosa to the next squirrel that comes along.

Media neglects their charter to report truthful, substantiv­e news — economy, tariffs, terrorism, business, stock market.

Of course, that would work to Trump’s advantage, since all is going gang busters.

We elected Trump to drain the swamp and do things that haven’t been tried before.

We see how the Deep State (both right and left) craves the status quo, but Trump doesn’t have to stay within these lines.

No one owns him and he can actually work on behalf of us deplorable­s and give us voice.

Leftist resistance is a disgrace. You lost the election. Get over it. Move on.

Newspaper mind locks with other newspapers on Trump editorials

So decided groupthink is a wonderful way to go.

It is extremely well-written, balanced the editorial published in its stance, and courageous in joining others papers in defending the free press against an administra­tion that seeks to abrogate the rights guaranteed under the First Amendment.

The Fourth Estate is indeed the fourth leg of the pedestal on which America’s liberty rests.

Remove that, and like a table with a leg removed, it will topple, spilling everything it holds to the ground.

Keep doing your job just as you’ve been doing it.
