TEMPE – Born Sharon Sue Brown in Des Moines, IA on Jan 3, 1940 to Vincent and Thelma Brown of Urbandale Passed Sunday, Aug 12, 2018, age 78, in her home in Tempe, AZ with family and close friend Brian Williams at her side.

Sharon, a dedicated mother and student, attended The Arizona State University earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Social Work, while working full time and raising her two children. She made use of her education and her compassion for those in need working as an EMT and drug crisis counselor in the very early years of Terros Health, then at the Arizona State Prison in Perryville, and later in hospital administra­tion at several large institutio­nal facilities in Arizona and California.

Sharon had two sons, Vincent and Stephen, with her first husband William Schmidt, relocating their family in Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan and Washington D.C., before eventually settling in the Phoenix, AZ suburb of Moon Valley in 1975. Sharon was later remarried to Randall Thompson, her loving husband of thirty-one years, where they lived among cherished neighborho­od friends in Ahwatukee, AZ until eventually retiring to Tempe. Sharon was a passionate pet lover and animal advocate, an avid internatio­nal traveler, political activist (most recently working on Mayor Greg Stanton’s election campaign) and was best known for her infectious smile and love of adventurou­s internatio­nal cooking.
