Cute Nicky looks like a stuffed toy come to life
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Nicky: Fluffy and living stuffed animal
An absolutely darling little woman with a smile almost as big as she is, Nicky has a personality that shines anywhere she goes. At 11 years young, this sweetheart’s life was turned upside down when her family moved to a property where the Home Owner’s Association no longer allowed pets. Her whole life with one family was taken out from under her.
As cute as a stuffed animal herself, Nicky absolutely loves to play with stuffed toys and snuggles up to them when she’s had her full share of playtime and needs a little nap.
Perhaps greater than her love for toys, however, is her love of other people and pets. She always gets along with new friends and greets everyone with her pearly white smile. Nicky is an absolute joy and is housebroken and crate trained and is always game to learn new tricks.
HOW TO ADOPT: Nicky is available for adoption Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at the Arizona Humane Society’s Campus for Compassion at 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix. Nicky’s adoption fee includes her spay surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip and a free followup wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital.
