GLENDALE – Austin C. Lynn, age 87 of Glendale, Arizona passed away on August 11, 2018.

Austin was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania December 29, 1930. He lived in Summitville, Ohio his first 18 years and during the years from 1944 to 1948 he attended Mercersburg Academy where he enjoyed singing in the Choir, Glee Club and wrestling.

Austin then moved to Phoenix in 1948 with his parents, Horace K. and Margaret Johnson Lynn, where he attended North High School, graduating in 1950. Besides being athletic in both wrestling and football from his youth through high school, Austin also loved to sing. He eventually joined the Central Methodist Church Choir in Phoenix where he met his true love, Joan Rita. They were married for 54 years until her passing December 29th, 2007. His second biggest joy in life, wife and children being first, was singing and being a member of the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix. He sang with the chorus for 38 years which took them on many tours here in the USA and many other countries. One of the most memorable was going to Russia shortly after the country opened for tourist. In 2001, Austin joined the Orpheus Emeritus Choir to sing at many Retirement communities. Austin often said that his lifelong friends came from the Orpheus.

After graduating from Arizona State University in 1961, Austin worked as a cost accountant for US Steel and Goodyear Aerospace for a combined 15 years but he found that he wasn’t meant to be behind a desk. He found his lifetime career and success in the insurance industry. In October 1974, Austin decided to go into the insurance business on his own. At this time the A.C. & L. Agency was incorporated and continued until December 30, 2010. Even with his speech impediment when he was younger, He was a man that enjoyed talking to people as well as listening. Austin was meant to be out with the people because they would always have a smile when he left.

Austin leaves behind four Children; Debbie M. Bahr (David), Catherine Lynn-White (Randy), Donna Lynn-Nelson (Dan) and Douglas C. Lynn (Amy), 12 Grandchildren, and 24 Great Grandchildren.
