BREAKING DOWN SUN DEVILS’ SCHEDULE

Sept. 1 – vs. Texas San Antonio, 7:30 p.m. FS1 The Herm Edwards era gets underway. The Sun Devils haven't lost a home opener since 1998. No pressure. Sept. 8 – vs. Michigan State, 7:45 p.m., ESPN. The Spartans are No. 12 in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll, but keep this stat in mind: ASU is 9-0 at Sun Devil Stadium against Big Ten teams. Sept. 15 – at San Diego State, 7:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network. This is a homecoming of sorts for defensive coordinator Danny Gonzales, who coached with the Aztecs for seven seasons. Sept. 22 – at Washington, TBD. Every season offers its own motivation, but don't think the Huskies won't remember last season's 13-7 loss to the Sun Devils in Tempe. They'll want payback. Sept. 29 – vs. Oregon State, TBD. Coming off a difficult opening stretch, where will ASU stand entering this contest? A 1-3 start could trigger a lot of outside noise. It might be time to take out some frustration. Oct. 6 – at Colorado, TBD. While it's foolish to call any conference road game a must win, this is pretty much ... a must win. Oct. 18 – vs. Stanford, TBD, ESPN. The Sun Devils get Heisman Trophy candidate Bryce Love on a Thursday night. Last season the speedy tailback rushed for a school-record 301 yards against them. Oct. 27 – at USC, TBD. The Trojans have won 8 of 9 against ASU at The Coliseum. Of course, the Sun Devils' one win – Jaelen Strong's Hail Mary catch in 2014 – was pretty exciting. Nov. 3 – vs. Utah, TBD. Every team in the Pac-12 South except one has won the division. No doubt, the Utes are tired of hearing this. Nov. 10 – vs. UCLA, TBD Considering new coach Chip Kelly went 46-7 in four seasons at Oregon, it might be wise to beat up on him while you have a chance. Nov. 17 – at Oregon, TBD ASU's bowl eligibility hopes might come down to these last two contests on the road, which is far from ideal. Nov. 24 – at Arizona, TBD. Attention Herm Edwards and Kevin Sumlin: This is the Territorial Cup. And in these parts, it means everything.
