Details about viewing and funeral for John McCain
Sen. John McCain’s services will be spread across two states over four days, organizers said Sunday — a day after he died from brain cancer at age 81.
Wednesday
Lying in state at the Arizona State Capitol, 1700 W. Washington St.
A private ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. The public will be allowed in from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday
Funeral services at North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave.
The funeral will be held at North Phoenix Baptist Church starting at 10 a.m. Limited public seating will be available. Tickets can be requested at johnmccain.com.
Friday
Lying in state at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
McCain’s body will then be flown to the Joint Base Andrews military facility in Maryland before he will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Friday.
A private ceremony honoring the life and service of McCain will be held at 10 a.m. in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda before the public is invited to pay their respects.
The event will be livestreamed.
Saturday
Funeral at the Washington National Cathedral
There will be a procession past the Vietnam Veterans Memorial followed by a private service limited to family, friends, congressional colleagues and staff, and U.S. and international leaders, according to McCain’s website. McCain will be buried in the cemetery at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The private ceremony’s date has not been publicly released.
