SUN CITY WEST – Arlos “Gene” Camarigg passed away on October 14, 2018 at his home in Sun City West, AZ. He was born June 20th, 1929 in Correction­ville, Woodbury Co., Iowa. His parents were Wayne and Alice Camarigg.

Gene graduated with a BA from Westmar College and an MA from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. He was a member of the baseball team at Westmar and also played semi-pro baseball in Iowa.

In 1950 he joined the US Navy and was a personnalm­an on the USS William M. Wood, Destroyer and the USS Yosemite, Destroyer Tender. During his service he also played on the ships baseball team. While in service he met his wife of 64 years, Joan nee Brosh.

His teaching career included three years in Holstein, Iowa and 30 years in Tinton Falls, NJ. During his teaching career he taught junior high students and coached girls basketball for 30 years.

He was a member of the Neptune Flying Club, Monmouth Airport County. After moving to Sun City West joined the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Posse serving for the next 21 years. Gene was a member of the Pebblebroo­k and Stardust Men’s Golf Clubs.

Gene is survived by his, wife Joan, daughters Kim Moore and husband Paul, Wall Township, NJ; Keri Camarigg and partner Maryanne Coughlin, South Hadley, MA; granddaugh­ters Robin Moore McGlothin and husband Jake, Reston, VA ; Randi Moore, Asbury Park, NJ and great-grandchild­ren; Mack and Stella McGlothin; his brother David and wife Nancy, Newport Beach; nephews Mark and Jeff Camarigg; and niece Lisa Jabara.

Celebratio­n of Life will be held Nov. 6th, 3 PM at Shepherd of the Hills UMC, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd, Sun City West, AZ
