Richard John Howard
- – On Tuesday October 9, 2018, our very own piano man, Rich Howard, played his final note on Earth. During his time here he inspired so many with his musical talents: as a Capitol Records recording artist with The Bob Meighan Band; later as a playwright producing multiple shows including “Pyramid Chamber” and “Cowboys in Love”; as an entertainer in clubs and restaurants; and through his tremendous contribution to the senior population of the Valley of the Sun with the ballroom dances he played for over 35 years - he literally moved people!
Also known by so many as “Hank Plow”, he was quick to hand a buck and a prayer to any person in need of solace and to take time to listen to the heartbeat of Mother Earth through saguaro cacti. His willingness to show up helped many individuals refrain from a lethal drink during his 24 years of sobriety in AA.
He was every kind of artist and his artistic pursuits will live on through his children: Zeke, Jonothon, Katherine, and Jimmy. He is also survived by his mother, Helen Howard, his brother, Bob Howard, his life partner, Laurie Hayden, and the mother of his children, Kathy Howard.
A Celebration of Rich’s Life will take place at Spur Cross Stables, 44029 N. Spur Cross Road, Cave Creek 85331, 4 – 6:30pm on Sunday October 28, 2018.
