Peter T. Balog passed away 10 October 2018 as a result of head injuries suffered during a fall. He is survived by his four daughters Karen Krohn, Cindy Balog, Tina Balog and Nancy Hubler and his grandson Kurt Krohn. Peter was born in 1932 at Vitondale, PA the eighth child of ten of John and Ann Balog. He first fell in love with Alaska during his military service in the Army (1953 – 1954). After his military service, Peter worked in the hotel and beverage industry where he met Gail Parker, his wife of 48 years. They were married in 1955 and moved to Anchorage, AK where they had many rewarding years together. Peter worked at the Westward Hilton for 35 years and upon his retirement he and Gail began splitting their time between Anchorage and a home they bought in Sun Lakes, AZ. Gail predecease­d Peter in 2002.

Peter was a strong enthusiast in whatever activity he undertook from his passionate gardening in both Anchorage and Sun Lakes to his intense love of all sports. While he followed all sports all year, he was the biggest fan of baseball. For many years he contribute­d resources to the Anchorage Glacier Pilots and the Alaska Baseball League. Later on in life he became an avid traveler and together with his wife Gail they explored many ports of call around the world. After Gail’s passing he continued his journeys with his companion Rosalie Wilson of Sun Lakes. At the time of his accident he was preparing for another cruise later this year. Services will be private.
