SCOTTSDALE – Claude Roland Boucaud, age 88, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on Friday October 12, 2018. Claude was born February 20, 1930 in Saint-MartinRivi­ère, France.

Claude Boucaud was a self-made man who came from humble beginnings and through hard work and perseveran­ce became a respected chef, working in England, Ireland, Chicago and Beverly Hills before moving to Scottsdale and opening the Voltaire, a well-known and popular French restaurant with his friend and fellow chef, Michel Bache. The Voltaire stayed open for 20 years until both Claude and Michel retired.

While working in Beverly Hills, Claude met, fell in love with and then married Billye on November 23, 1968 in Beverly Hills, California. He and Billye were meant for each other, they had a loving relationsh­ip and work partnershi­p that lasted 44 years until her death.

Claude enjoyed fishing, gardening, tennis. Billye and Claude had their main home in Scottsdale and one in Colorado, where they could get out on the lake, fish and swim.

Claude is survived by his niece and God-daughter, Pepette, and other extended family in France.

A funeral service followed by graveside memorial for Claude will occur on Monday, October 22 at 10:00 AM, Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257. Fond memories and expression­s of sympathy may be shared at www.greenacres­mortuary.net for the Boucaud family.
