SCOTTSDALE – Harriet Sylvia Thompson, born on February 16, 1928, in Lakewood, NJ, to Eli and Ruth Newmark, passed away peacefully in Scottsdale, AZ, on Friday, October 12, 2018.

Harriet graduated from Georgian Court College in Lakewood, NJ, receiving a B.S. in Education and taught English and History at Middle Schools and High Schools in Freehold, NJ, Westminste­r, CA and Scottsdale, AZ.

She followed that with roles in Administra­tion at Temple Beth Israel and as Director of Education at Har Zion Congregati­on, after which she entered the business world, finishing her career at Electronic Data Systems.

Harriet was an avid reader, a passionate knitter and loved music, especially songs from the Big Band Era. However, her greatest joy in life was her two grandchild­ren, Lauren and Carter, to whom she always offered unconditio­nal love, acceptance and support.

Harriet is survived by her children Lisa Warner (Bob Gardner), Scott Thompson (Deli), and Robin (David) Nathanson, her granddaugh­ters Lauren Thompson and Carter Warner, her brother Charles Newmark, five nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered as a caring, happy, loving mother and grandmothe­r.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, October 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at Paradise Memorial Gardens, Scottsdale, AZ, immediatel­y followed by a celebratio­n of life reception at the Warner-Gardner home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
