AUSTIN, TX – Dolores (Dee) Juanice Newman passed away peacefully on September 12, 2018 in Austin, TX Dee was born in Duncan, OK on May 15,1931 to Frank and Oma Lee Newman.

She moved to Phoenix from OK with her parents and 3 siblings as a child and attended Phoenix Union High School. After graduating she joined the Women’s Air Corps. While she was in the WAC, she attended many dances at Luke AFB where she met (and married) a young officer and pilot, George B. Patton. As an AF wife she lived in many places: Okinawa, Georgia, CA and Phoenix. George passed in l959 during active duty and Dee moved, with her children, to Las Vegas where she bought a foreign car dealership. She learned to drive a racecar and even won a trophy. After 12 years she returned with her four children to Phoenix where she opened a successful catering business, Credible Edibles, in Tempe. Dee had a love and an amazing talent for cooking. She also adored travel. She visited many countries both with friends and by herself through Elder Hostel. Dee was a lover of the outdoors and hiking. South Mtn Park and Grand Canyon were her favorite hiking spots. She hiked to the bottom of the Canyon many times. Dee also volunteere­d for Hospice of the Valley for several years. At age 84 she moved to Austin TX to be near her middle daughter, Melanie. She found many friends and much love and support at the Center for Spriritual Living, Cental TX. Dee was preceded in death by her husband George, her son Michael, and three siblings Frankie Lee, Patty,and Jyneva. She leaves behind three daughters, Marci Patton, Melanie Patton Colpaart and Melissa Gaskins Nautiyal, as well as 10 grandchild­ren and 11 great grandchild­ren. A private celebratio­n of life will be held in Mesa, AZ in November.
