Flood of people on the march to our border defies reason

- Gary Beck, Phoenix Contact him: Tom Tyschper, Gilbert The Republic The Arizona Republic Tony Kegowicz, Mesa

There is no value in cable news pundits telling us what can be legally done about the foreign caravan heading to the United States border.

The answer is clearly spelled out in our Constitution. Specifically Article IV, Section. 4. Which states:

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion.”

The number of central Americans flooding toward our southern border defies all reason. If there were a caravan of 7,000-plus Russians demanding entrance at our border, I’m sure the left would demand that the entire 3rd Marine Division be deployed to repel them.

Let Congress tend to the needs of the migrants headed this way

If our Congress cannot quickly create laws to address the 7,000 migrants approaching our southern border, I have a suggestion:

When they get here, we could transfer those waiting for trial to house temporarily in the Capitol building. I believe the offices there have bath and shower facilities. Maybe the members could even take some of them to lunch (at their expense).

There may also be similar facilities in the Senate and House office buildings. If more room is needed, Congress could allow them to pitch tents on the Capitol grounds, the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian and any other public space “we the people” own.

I wrote this as an attempt at humor, but the more I thought about it, the more I began to feel it might be good for our congressmen to face what all Americans are exposed to. Anybody else have any other ideas?

Is there a here? We could possible movement call it “What Congress Caused.”

This veteran does not appreciate Benson’s flippant reference to war

In Steve Benson’s Monday cartoon Kyrsten Sinema is decked out in red, white and blue, flashing a thumbs up after firing a shoulder-launched missile at an American military jet piloted by McSally.

The rocket tube labeled “substance” is adorned by American and Arizona flags. The flames behind the jet are labeled “shallow attacks.”

At a time when print newspaper subscriptions ❚ ❚ are decreasing, how does this help? To many veterans, flippant references to war are offensive.

I thought editorial board went to great lengths to articulate why they endorsed Sinema. It made people view this race in a different way.

I knew would endorse Kyrsten Sinema well before it was done this past weekend.

The liberal bias has been obvious for years and has gotten worse in the last two to three years.
