BIG 12 ROUNDUP

-

Oklahoma State 45, No. 7 West Virginia 41: Taylor Cornelius passed for 338 yards, ran for 106 more and threw a touchdown to Tylan Wallace with 42 seconds remaining to rally Oklahoma State past visiting West Virginia.

West Virginia quarterback Will Grier led the Mountaineers down to the Oklahoma State 14-yard line but couldn’t connect with David Sills V on the final play. The loss all but ended West Virginia’s shot at the College Football Playoff and put a dent in Grier’s Heisman Trophy campaign.

Oklahoma State (6-5, 3-5) became bowl eligible with the victory. West Virginia (8-2, 6-2, No. 9 CFP) faces Oklahoma next Friday and still has a shot at reaching the Big 12 title game.

TCU 16, Baylor 9: Jalen Reagor turned a short pass into a 65-yard score and later had a 37-yard touchdown on a fourth-and-1 reverse run as TCU beat host Baylor, keeping the Bears from reaching bowl eligibility in their home finale.

TCU (5-6, 3-5 Big 12), which had another starting quarterback get hurt, can get to a bowl for the 16th time in coach Gary Patterson’s 18 seasons with a win at home next Saturday against Oklahoma State.

Fifth-year senior Grayson Muehlstein had completed only one pass in his seven career games for TCU before starter Michael Collins left the game with a right ankle injury late in the first quarter. Muehlstein was 11-of-15 for 137 yards and the TD to the speedy Reagor.

Kansas State 21, Texas Tech 6: Skylar Thompson returned from a concussion to throw for 213 yards and a touchdown, Blake Lynch hit four field goals and host Kansas State’s defense grounded high-flying Texas Tech in a victory over the sloppy Red Raiders.

Alex Barnes added 136 yards rushing for the Wildcats (5-6, 3-5 Big 12), who kept alive their bowl hopes by beating the Red Raiders (5-6, 3-5) for the seventh time in their last eight meetings.

Texas Tech hasn’t won in Manhattan since 2008.
