MESA – Pete, born Dec 4, 1934, (83), passed away peacefully on September 23rd, 2018 of natural causes, in Mesa, AZ. He was surrounded by his wife, his daughters and family.

Pete was born to Ismael Lopez and Hipolita (Vasquez) Lopez in Pharr, Texas. After the loss of his mother at the age of seven he grew up with his father and family members.

He left Texas as a young man and settled in Phoenix. His career included working for Internatio­nal Metals for many years. Later he worked for the City of Phoenix where he retired after 25 years of service.

He loved CRUISING. That was our special word for going out to have fun! That included going to casinos, visits to San Javier Mission in Tucson, AZ., sharing a meal and a glass of beer with family and friends. “He enjoyed Life” A man who always made time for his family and friends.

Pete was a proud man and a devoted father. He loved people, he loved joking and laughing with everyone. He was loved very much by his family and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife Hortensia A. Lopez of 48 years. His daughters (Sylvia) Bustos, (Josie) Lopez, (Dora) Valenzuela, son (Danny) J. Meraz, son in-law (Robert) Bustos. Survived by the mother of his children, Olivia R. Lopez. He loved all his grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter (Victoria) Lopez, brother (Marcelino) Lopez, sister (Victoria) Lopez, Nephew (Jose) Lopez, grandson (Carlos) Mercado, great granddaugh­ter Gabrielle.

Pete’s wish was to be cremated. A graveside service will be held at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phx, Az., on November 23rd, 2018 at 11:00 am. Enter on Oak St., to lot 7.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Premier Hospice or any charity of your choice.
