Mary M. Kimball

NUTRIOSO – Mary M. Rulison Phillips Kimball “Peggy” sailed over the horizon on October 29, 2018. We’re sure her friends and family were waiting with glee as she made it to the other side. If you had to describe her, it would be with words such as loving, kind, exuberant, and generous. To limit her to solely these descriptions however, is impossible as she packed more into life than most mortals could ever think possible. Sadly, her passing reminded us just how special she was.

Peggy was born on September 8, 1933 in Lansing, MI. She graduated from Michigan State University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She married Lt. Paul Adam Phillips in December of 1955. They lived in faraway locations including Spain, Morocco, and Japan, as well as California, New Mexico, and Arizona. In 1986, she married James Leo Kimball. Originally, they lived in Mesa, AZ but ended up settling in Nutrioso, AZ. Peggy loved Nutrioso and lived there for the last 20 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Gustavus and Elizabeth Jane Rulison, Paul Adam Phillips, and James Kimball. She is survived by her daughters Kristin Elizabeth Phillips of Phoenix, AZ and Heather Phillips Sexton (Martin) of Waxhaw, NC; grandchildren Jordan Sexton Ziegler (Jeff) of Belmont, NC and Lt Kieran Francis Sexton of Virginia Beach, VA; great grandson Jameson Harper Ziegler of Belmont, NC; sister Juli Kastran of Payson, AZ; as well as many other relatives and dear friends who truly loved her.

A celebration of life will be held in Nutrioso, AZ at a later date to be determined.
