- – Hub Goyen Jr., 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 6, 2018. He was born in Houston, TX on Nov. 22, 1939. During Hub’s childhood, his father worked as a civil engineer/ foreman laying gas pipeline throughout the US and the family moved around a lot. Hub went to at least 6 different high schools and ended up graduating in Victoria, TX. Hub started college at the University of Houston and in his second year was offered a place on the golf team at Arizona State College in Flagstaff, AZ (currently NAU), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He met his first wife Elizabeth Morrison while attending ASC. They were married for 27 years and had four children.

Hub loved his family and made friends easily. He was a golf profession­al throughout AZ for 50 years. Some referred to him as “Mr. Arizona Golf ”. He loved teaching people how to play golf and was responsibl­e for many young people getting College Golf Scholarshi­ps. Hub qualified for the US Senior Open at age 50 and played in the AZ SW Senior Assoc. He held a patent on the “Teaching Tool”, a golf aid that he invented. When Hub wasn’t teaching people to play golf or golfing himself, he was fishing. He was a very adventurou­s person and loved the outdoors. Hub was also an amazing artist and was known for his beautiful calligraph­y on golf tournament scoreboard­s and colored pencil drawings. He loved gardening, dancing and gatherings with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Maxwell Goyen, the love of his life for almost 30 years; children: Keith Goyen (Christine) of Gilbert, Jamie Mowbray (Perry) of Flagstaff, Kathy Eaton (Craig) of Mesa and Hub Goyen III (Sue) of Mesa; brother Dan Goyen (Genelle) of Victoria, TX and sister-in-law Beth Goyen of Bryan, TX; 10 grandchild­ren: Sarah, Jarred, Daniel, Michaela, Hunter, Brock, Morgan, Lauren, Jake and Alexis; and 2 great-grandchild­ren: Jackson and Wade. He was proceeded in death by his parents Hub Sr. and Harriett Goyen, his brother Garrett Goyen of TX and granddaugh­ter Shea of AZ.

Hub’s Celebratio­n of Life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 2:00-7:00 pm at the Rancho Mirage Clubhouse located at 2400 E. Baseline Ave., Apache Junction, AZ. Hub loved a good party!

The family would like to thank the amazing people at Visions Senior Memory Care and Reflection­s Hospice for their care of Hub during the last two months of his life.
