PHOENIX – Albert John Nelesen, Jr., 95, an adored father and friend to almost everyone he met, died peacefully in his Phoenix home surrounded by loved ones on Nov. 13, 2018.

Despite his age, Albert never retired from Nelesen Engineering, the company he started in the 1960’s.

He was born on March 17, 1923, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and became known for his St. Patrick’s Day birthday parties, complete with beer and brats.

Albert was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and was a WWII Navy officer. He served on the USS Montague in the Pacific until the war ended.

He and his wife of 59 years, Marjorie, moved to Phoenix in 1951. They had three daughters. After Marjorie’s death in 2004, Albert later married Patricia Bacon-Brandt, who died in 2013.

Albert was an avid tennis player, bridge player, golfer and Packers fan. He loved music, playing both the accordion and organ. He sang regularly in the choir of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. He was a long-time Rotarian and a member of the American Legion.

Albert is survived by daughters Donna Nelesen, Diane Ruble and her husband Dr. Bill Green, and Denise Nelesen and her spouse Bonnie Dumanis. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Klotz. He leaves behind many other relatives, numerous great friends and his loving caregiver, Patty Cabral.

A memorial will be held at 6:30 P.M. Friday, Dec. 14th at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1212 E. Glendale Ave., Phoenix.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church to help buy a new organ.
