Cat’s ice-colored eyes will pierce your heart
Every year, about 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, contact the shelter directly.
Sulley
With a beautifully long, luxurious coat and eyes the color of ice, Sulley is sure to stand out anywhere he goes. So much so that the 10-year-old flame point Birman kitty was quickly adopted when he was first brought to the Arizona Humane Society more than nine years ago. However, his family recently had to make the heart-wrenching decision to bring him back when they fell on hard times.
This handsome gentleman has lived with other cats and dogs before in his previous home and considers himself everyone’s friend; however, he would love a nice, slow introduction to really make sure he can become best friends with the whole family. With all of the attention Sulley tends to get, it can make him a little shy at first. But with a little patience, a comfortable hiding place and lots of love, he warms right up!
Sulley’s gorgeous exterior is also accompanied by a gorgeous spirit. Although he may have recently reached double digits, this friendly feline still enjoys playing and frolicking about every now and then. Fuzzy mice and jingle balls are his favorite toys to play with, just in time to celebrate the holidays with.
HOW TO ADOPT: Sulley is available for adoption today at noon at the Arizona Humane Society’s Campus for Compassion at 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix. His adoption fee includes his neuter surgery, current vaccinations, microchips and a free follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital. For more information, call 602-9977585 and ask for animal number 253493.
