SUN CITY – Mary Viola (Fitzgerald) Binder, 85, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away peacefully on November 6th, 2018. Mary was born September 10th, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio, where she attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School and Central Catholic High School. She married her husband of 60 years, George John Binder in Toledo in 1956. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1958 and raised a family. In 1995, concluding an 18-year career with Honeywell, Mary and George (who worked at Honeywell for 37 years), retired together. They moved to Sun City, where Mary joined the Bell Stitchers Sewing Club, making garments for needy schoolchil­dren. They also travelled, played pinochle and bunco, and entertaine­d friends and family extensivel­y.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Edward and Viola (Zierolf ) Fitzgerald, Sister Kathleen (Fitzgerald) Olzak, Great Grandson Lucas, Granddaugh­ter Lauren, and husband George (April 3rd, 2017). She is survived by Son Robert (Kathy Oberdank), Daughter Jean, and Son Michael, Grandchild­ren Andrew Christophe­r (Danielle Reilly), Andrew John, Kyle, Emily (Cody Levi), and Shannon, and Great Grandchild­ren William and Benjamin.

Services will be held on Friday, November 30th at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church (9728 W. Palmeras Drive, Sun City, AZ 85373), officiated by Father Kilian McCaffrey, with food and drink to follow in the church hall. Her ashes will join those of her husband George at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix in a later private service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to: Bell Stitchers Sewing Club, c/o Mary Binder Memorial, 16820 N. 99th Avenue, Sun City, AZ 85351.
