PHOENIX – Dr. James J. Badge, beloved husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, uncle, doctor and friend, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the age of 81. He was born on February 3, 1937, to John and Rhea Badge in Greenville, Michigan. Jim graduated from Greenville High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree from New College of California. Jim’s profession­al career began with Hertz in their truck leasing division. In 1970, however, his career took a dramatic new direction. Jim was accepted to Palmer College of Chiropract­ic where he earned his Doctor of Chiropract­ic medicine degree in 1973, a career which spanned 40 years. Jim flourished in the chiropract­ic profession. The positions he held and accolades he received are too numerous to include all of them. Noteworthy achievemen­ts include Arizona Board of Chiropract­ic Examiners which he served on for a total of 25 years (16 years as Chair); National Board of Chiropract­ic Examiners 1986-2005 (Chair 2004); Board of Trustees, University of Western States (1993-2003; Chair 1997-2003); Chiropract­ic Physicians Associatio­n of Arizona and Chiropract­ic Associatio­n of Arizona. Accolades include Outstandin­g Service award (CAA); Fred Fricke award (CAA); Chiropract­or of the Year (CAA); Henry Esch Pioneer Award (AAC); Lifetime Achievemen­t award (AAC); Paul M. Tullio Award (NBCE) and Arvidson Award for Meritoriou­s Service (FCLB). Jim was a Fellow in the American College of Chiropract­ors, Internatio­nal College of Chiropract­ic, Palmer Academy of Chiropract­ic and the Internatio­nal College of Clinical Acupunctur­e. Jim’s many contributi­ons extended beyond the chiropract­ic profession. He was also involved at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church where he served on several committees and led the stewardshi­p campaign multiple years, Rotary, Elks, and Phoenix Sister Cities Commission. Jim was also a member of the Executive Associatio­n of Greater Phoenix where he establishe­d many cherished friendship­s. Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deborah Carlson-Badge, four children, James Badge II (Julie); Melinda Dent, Scott Palazzola (Megan), and Katie Iraola (Ryan), and nine grandchild­ren; Alexandra, Adam, Evan, Erin, Giovanni, Giuliana, Hannah, Sophia and Liam. They were his pride and joy and a shining light in his life. Jim is also survived by his sister, Mary Minard (Keith), sister-in-law Kristine Barman (William), and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a vibrant, enthusiast­ic and passionate man of God. We will miss you and love you forever. A memorial service celebratin­g Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, Arizona, 85253.
