PHOENIX – Margaret Ann Biggs, of Phoenix, passed away on November 29, 2018. She is survived by her son, Scott Peeples of Kirkland, WA and David Steed of Haverhill, MA; and three grandchild­ren: David Steed, Jr., Alec Steed, and Mary Rose Steed.

Margaret Ann was born June 1, 1933 in Yoakum, Texas, to August William Schmidt and Alma Wendt Schmidt.

She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society and Alpha Phi Social Sorority, and later became an elementary school teacher.

Upon her move to Phoenix, Margaret Ann became a member of First Methodist Church on Central, and P.E.O. She was also very active in the Republican Party, which honored her with the prestigiou­s “Lincoln Award” for her volunteer service. She was especially known for her gracious hospitalit­y at many Republican events and her campaign work for many Republican candidates. Margaret Ann also had a lovely voice and she enjoyed attending opera performanc­es and membership in Phoenix “Opera Dames”.

An avid world traveler, Margaret Ann especially enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Ray Biggs, and with “Texas Exes”, her alumni friends from The University of Texas.
