Report: Sarkisian unlikely to join Cardinals
One of the Arizona Cardinal’s leading candidates for offensive coordinator might now be out of the picture.
Former Falcons offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is now unlikely to be joining the Cardinals’ coaching staff, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network. Citing sources, Garafolo said it doesn’t seem to be looking like a fit at the moment between the Cardinals and Sarkisian, who spent the past two seasons as offensive coordinator for the Falcons.
The Cardinals were said to also be interested in former Giants head coach Ben McAdoo Another potential candidate linked to the Cardinals as an offensive assistant is Texas State head coach Jake Spavital.

Clemson celebrates latest title amid cheers and doughnuts
CLEMSON, S.C. – All-American Christian Wilkins tossed doughnuts and showed off a victory cigar.
On a chilly, overcast morning, Clemson celebrated its second national football title in three seasons Saturday before thousands of roaring fans. Spectators stood seven or eight deep along the parade route.
Trevor Lawrence, who threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns in the title game against Alabama, rode a flat-bed truck with dozens of teammates.
The parade ended outside the stadium where the players line up to run down the hill before games.
Probe of IOC’s Takeda hangs over Tokyo Olympics
TOKYO – A month ago, Tsunekazu Takeda was warmly applauded by 1,400 Olympic dignitaries as he spoke alongside International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach in Tokyo.
A month later, the powerful IOC member and head of the Japanese Olympic Committee is fighting a corruption investigation, suspected by French investigators of authorizing the payment of bribes to help land the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when IOC members voted in 2013.
In a Japanese Olympic Committee statement on Friday, Takeda denied any wrongdoing.
Ready Freddie: Kitchens hired by Browns after offensive run
CLEVELAND – Freddie Kitchens had something on his coaching resume no other candidate could match. He made Baker Mayfield a better quarterback.
Kitchens, who helped Mayfield turn his rookie season into a record-breaking one during an impressive eightgame stint as the Browns offensive coordinator, was named Cleveland’s 17th full-time coach on Saturday, capping a remarkable personal rise up the coaching ranks.
His next goal: Take the Browns where they’ve never been – the Super Bowl.
College athlete charged in assault of teammate at practice
AKRON, Ohio – A college basketball player accused of repeatedly punching a teammate at practice, knocking out some teeth and leaving him unconscious, has been charged with misdemeanor assault in Ohio.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports University of Akron redshirt sophomore center Khadim Gueye pleaded not guilty after being arrested this week for the allegedly unprovoked Dec. 16 attack witnessed by coaches and teammates.
Gueye and his attorney wouldn’t comment at his arraignment Friday.
Athletics director Larry Williams says Akron suspended Gueye, a 22year-old from Senegal who is sitting out this season after transferring from South Carolina.
