SCOTTSDALE – Cynthia Fry Thompson, 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cynthia was born April 5, 1935 in Evanston, Illinois. She attended Arlington Heights High School and the University of Arizona where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She continued her studies at Arizona State University in the field of special education. She began her teaching career in Page, Arizona on the Navajo reservatio­n and retired from the Phoenix Unified School District over 50 years later. She was an avid traveler which was highlighte­d by a two and a half year sailing trip with her husband and two children. She was married to her late husband, Joseph Edward “Ned” Thompson for over 60 years. She was an active member of the Grand Canyon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She will be remembered as an ardent friend, devoted mother, grandmothe­r, and wife. Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Gwen Miller; son, Jim Thompson; and four grandchild­ren Izzy, Lauren, Cameron, and Maddie. Private services have been held.
