David Arnold Gibson

PEORIA – David A. Gibson, 76, of Peoria, AZ passed away on January 3, 2019 from complications of three back surgeries in the last two weeks of November. He was surrounded by his family. He was born February 4, 1942 to Alfred & Nettie (Tarwater) Gibson in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1960 where he was sometimes known as “The Nose” & sometimes as “Mr. Blue”. This is where he met his wife, Deena. He attended UMKC & had an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Marine Corp. The family moved to Phoenix on Valentine’s Day in 1971. From then on, Arizona was home, they both loved it!

Dave’s career was in warehouse management, sales & owner of several small businesses including, Arizona Home Video. He retired in 2000 & after Deena retired in 2007, they did extensive traveling the country & the world. He loved all the cruises they took together to Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Mediterranean, Europe, etc. He also loved all card games, but especially poker. He did love to go to casinos & visited many of them on their road trips. He had quite a collection of Players Club Cards.

He had a great sense of humor & would always leave someone with a smile when he spoke to them. He had a great heart & loved people, Country music & singing. Around Sun City he was sometimes referred to as “The Big Bopper”.

He leaves behind, his loving wife of 56 years, Deena, his children, who he was so proud of, Daneen Gibson, Peoria, Darrell (Diane) Gibson, Surprise & one precious granddaughter, Donica Gibson, who he loved so dearly. Also, his brother, Jim (Evelyn) Gibson of St. Louis, & nieces & nephews.

Arrangements for cremation are being made by Regency Mortuary at 9850 W. Thunderbird, Sun City, AZ. Final interment will be in a niche at Sunland Cemetery, Sun City, AZ

As per his request, there will be no Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of his favorite charities either Phoenix Children’s Hospital or City of Hope in Los Angeles. It was City of Hope, while here in Phoenix, who helped extend his life an additional 11-1/2 years after his stem cell transplant in 2007.

We will always cherish the laughter & the memories of such good times together.
